I love to eat but I am careful with what I eat because my stomach is sensitive to some food. Sometimes though cravings come first so here I am under house arrest again for a day. It is nothing serious though. My dose of Moringa (malunggay) powder isn't enough I guess. I am going to write about its benefits later when everything is not that hectic.
The good thing about being at home today is I can update this blog (the last entry was last year, 2013). However, I have to do extra work for the classes I missed. Though sleeping is one of the nicest things, I like to do something. I think it's because I'm used to people around me not being idle. I can write more about that but let's go back to our topic...food.
When I'm sick I crave food like homemade tinolang isda (fish soup) with lemongrass and Moringa leaves. I wasn't able to cook it before so I don't have pictures here. The last time I put an effort into cooking something was earlier this year when I went back to my parents' house. I didn't take pictures though. Believe it or not, my younger brother liked it. I seldom cook because he, like our parents, cooks well so I'm not confident to feed them. I usually cook for myself only since I live on my own.
Cooking is both an art and a science. I don't have the energy right now to elaborate on that statement. All I know is I love to experiment and design simple dishes.
steamed okra + boiled rice + cucumber & tomato salad with lime |
Steamed okra is a favorite just like tortang talong (eggplant omelet).
chicken with zesty lemon sauce à la Jie |
I use recipes but I don't follow them completely. I like to experiment. When I made the sauce above, I used both the zest and juice of one lemon and added garlic, powdered black pepper, and butter.
Meanwhile, cooking spaghetti is a step-by-step process. Making the desired taste of the sauce is the challenging part.
spaghetti sauce with ground meat + cheese |
I usually cook different pasta using boiling water with little oil and salt.
rotini or corkscrew pasta and spaghetti |
I don't do Master Chef designs but definitely, the designing part is fun.
